There are three ways people typically remove pigs from our traps:
1 - Loosen the cam buckles on 1/2 the T-post to release the tension on the top line of the net. Remove the netting from these T-post and allow the netting to fall to the ground. From there you will either pull the pigs over the top of the netting (which is laying on the ground) or pull the anchor stakes (1/2" cold rolled steel stakes with curl on top) out of the ground. Then pull the netting over the top of the pigs and temporarily attach it to the remaining T-post that are still anchored, lifting the net completely off the ground in a horseshoe shape. Loosening the net from 1/2 the T-posts is the most popular method to get pigs out of the trap. Most folks then back their transport vehicle (truck, UTV, or front-end loader) right up to the edge of the netting and load the pigs.
2 - Remove 2-3 anchor stakes from the center of the trap. Then lift the net up and tie it so you can easily duck under the netting while pulling out the pigs. You can use the midline cam straps to temporarily hold the netting up by running them around the netting and cinching it down. The net will be supported by the t-posts and topline. This is very similar to the way we recommend for conditioning mode but with the smaller midline cam straps bunching the material.
3 - You can open the seam in the net where the aircraft cable is weaved through the netting. This provides a complete opening to remove the pigs. This is the least used option. It's more cumbersome than the other two options since you have to loosen the net and re-weave the aircraft cable through the seam.
