Each year feral hogs cause billions of dollars in damage to agricultural equipment, crops, livestock, and conservation lands.
The trap is low stress for the animal. Feral hogs enter, and most pigs don't realize they've been trapped until the human arrives to dispatch them. They aren't harmed in the trap or injured, and the dispatch is more likely to be humane vs. shooting while moving. Given the growth in the feral hog population, folks need to trap (need to get the whole sounder vs. shoot individuals and run the risk of making others smart).
